Rooted Gardens
Our Team

Owner
Krystyna Oszkinis (she/her)
Krystyna is co-owner and lead designer of Rooted Gardens. She studied Environmental Studies and Studio Art at Dartmouth College and had been passionately tending outdoor spaces to enhance humans interactions with the natural world for the last decade.
Her current plant crush is Dicentra cucullaria (because a plant named "Dutchman's Breeches is adorable and silly and it provides early season nutrition to bumblebees) and her garden headphones are either playing nerdy plant podcasts or electro-pop.

Owner
Matt Stuart
Matt Stuart's technical know-how delivers the theory of beneficial gardening and lawn maintenance into a reliable service to offer the opportunity to put your lawn where your mouth is.

Garden Guru/Education and Outreach Coordinator
Sarah Goldsmith (they/she)
Sarah has a background in environmental science and soil biogeochemistry. After years working in academia, they decided they wanted something more hands-on and transitioned to gardening. They are at their happiest digging in soil and are always interested in ways to improve soil health and carbon sequestration in home gardens.
Their favorite plant is Canadian Wild Ginger, for the oft-under looked diminutive flowers and dark green heart-shaped leaf. Their headphones are usually playing some combination of news or plant podcasts or rock/punk music.

Garden Guru
Lia Romana
Lia has always been fascinated with plants; her first memory is of a vivid green basil leaf, warmed in the sun. She grew up gardening in the desert, but found home here in the Northeast Kingdom. Lia has spent the last five years studying Horticulture and Permaculture. She is a certified Master Gardener for the state of Vermont, a Sustainable Landscape Designer and a huge fan of informed pruning. When she isn't tending gardens, Lia can be found kayaking in the Whites or birding in the woods.
